He has started several companies in the recruitment industry in his business career. His first company, Olympian Consultancy was listed at 8th on the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Companies for 1999. Leman was also awarded the Durlacher Executive of the Year Award and the Sussex Businessman of the Year Award. Leman is currently the Chairman of Gold Group Recruitment. This technology and engineering recruitment company works with companies around the world. Clearwater People Solutions is his chairman, and he is also Non Exec Chairman at SLC (a sports- and leure consultancy).

He was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2018.

He was part of the Gold Medal-winning Great Britain team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He won bronze at the 1984 Summer Olympics, Los Angeles four years before. He was also awarded silver by the England team at the 1986 Hockey World Cup. From 1988 to 1990, he was the captain of Great Britain and England. He ended his career with 228 caps. Leman was named UK Hockey Player of the year in 1984.

Leman was born in East Grinstead (West Sussex). He was born in East Grinstead, West Sussex, between 1973 and 1977. He played all of his club hockey at East Grinstead Hockey Club.
