Ricardo Ismael Rojas is one of the most popular and richest Paraguayan footballer who was born on January 26, 1971 in Posadas, Argentina. Ricardo Ismael Rojas Mendoza, a Paraguayan professional footballer, was born 26 January 1971 and played as a fullback.

He played in Estudiantes for four seasons as a left-back, with more than 120 league appearances. However, he did not win any silverware. The 28-year-old moved to Benfica in July 1999 with Carlos Bossio, his teammate. He referred to the transfer as his highest point in his professional career. Record reports that the fees for both were three million dollars. On 12 September, he made his debut against Santa Clara. He went on to play 30 matches in all competitions as a right-back, mostly. In 2000-01, however, the signings by Ivan Dudic (right) and Diogo Luis (left), severely reduced his playing time. Born in Posadas in the Argentine province Misiones in Argentina, Rojas was a member of Argentinos Juniors in 1991. In the same year, he moved to Cerro Cora and took part in their campaign for the Primera Division. He joined Club Libertad in 1992. There he was able to secure a spot in the first team. In three seasons, he had played over 50 league matches. Rojas signed with Estudiantes after five years in Paraguay.

He was first recognized at Libertad, Paraguay. In 1995, he transferred to Estudiantes, where he established himself, and where he received his first call-up to the Paraguay national soccer team. He moved to Benfica in 1999. On 11 March 2002, he scored his only top tier goal, in a 3-0 victory of River over its main rivals, Boca Juniors. After scoring that goal, he was nicknamed vaseline. He would play for River for a further four years, retiring in 2007 after a brief spell at Belgrano. After football, he became a farmer and moved back to his home-town.
