Ric Parnell is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on August 13, 1951 in Hammersmith, England, United Kingdom. Richard “Ric” J. Parnell, born 13 August 1951 in London, England, is an English rock drummer. He is most well-known for his work with Atomic Rooster but is perhaps best known for his role in The Movie This is Spinal Tap as Mick Shrimpton, the ill-fated drummer.
Parnell was part of Stars in 1975. They released one album, but then broke up. The Nova album was followed in 1977 and 1978 by Parnell’s two-album stint with Nova, an Italian/British jazz fusion band.
Parnell’s big break came in 1984 when he played the role of Mick Shrimpton in the mockumentary This is Spinal Tap. His character was one of a long line of unfortunate drummers who all perish from freak accidents, his own fate being spontaneous combustion.
Parnell, then known as Spyder, joined the Italian band Tritons after Atomic Rooster collapsed. They had a hit in Italy in 1973 with their rearranged version of “Satisfaction”, which was written by the Rolling Stones. The group quickly released an album titled Satisfaction the following year. Some members of Tritons were more into performing serious music. These members, including Parnell, left Tritons to co-found Ibis, an Italian prog-rock band. Parnell was both the drummer and co-lyricist for their 1974 album Sun Supreme. After Parnell’s departure, the group recorded one more album.

Parnell turned down a job with Journey at one point. He was too busy with Zoo Drive, his studio band, which he later regretted.
He was part of Horse’s hard rock band, which recorded only one album before disbanding in 1970. He joined Atomic Rooster briefly, but he left after only two months. He was invited to join Atomic Rooster by the end 1971, and he stayed long enough to record the band’s final two albums.
Spinal Tap became a working band, recording a soundtrack album and promoting the film with live shows and a 1984 appearance on Saturday Night Live. The character of Mick Shrimpton having died in This Is Spinal Tap, Parnell assumed the role of his “twin brother” drummer Ric Shrimpton for the group’s appearances subsequent to the film. This continued through the band’s 1992 reunion album Break Like the Wind and the associated concert tour. Parnell has not been a part of more recent Spinal Tap activity.
