Raymond Alton Hayward, born April 27, 1961 in Enid (Oklahoma), is a former left-handed Major League Baseball pitcher who played between 1986 and 1988 for the San Diego Padres as well as the Texas Rangers. He is currently the pitching instructor for the Texas Tech Red Raiders collegiate baseball team.

In 1986, Hayward pitched again for Las Vegas and went 9-11 with a 4.63 ERA over 26 games (25 starts). Hayward was called up in September and made his big league debut on September 20. Hayward was only able to last 1/3 of an inning against Mike Scott of the Houston Astros. He allowed seven hits and six earned runs. He would go on to start in two additional games that year, going 0-2 and a 9.00 ERA.

Although he would not play in the majors after 1988, he did continue to pitch in the minor leagues. Hayward did not play in 1989, however.

Pitching for the Oklahoma City 89ers, Hayward went 3–2 with a 3.86 ERA in eight games. He earned an extended stay with the Rangers that season, starting 12 games and going 4–6 with a 5.46 ERA. Hayward pitched in his final big league game on July 5, 1988.

Hayward was a 1984 Las Vegas Stars pitcher, going 9-6 with a 4.87 ERA. He had one complete and one shutout in 26 games (24 starts). In 129/3 innings, he struck out 91 batters.

Hayward studied at the University of Oklahoma before he became a professional baseball player. He went 9-2 in 1980 with a 3.19 ERA, 78 strikeouts and 93 innings. He went 9-2 the following year with a 1.70 ERA and struck out 75 batters over 69 innings. In 1982, he only appeared in three games and went 1-1 with a 2.40 ERA. He was 7-6 in 1983, his last season at college.
