Rasmus Johan Michael Hansson, born 4 September 1954, is a Norwegian biologist and civil servant. He is also an environmental activist, former spokesperson for the Green Party, and was born in Norway. From 2000 to 2012, he was the leader of the Norwegian Chapter of World Wide Fund for Nature. He was the first representative of the Green Party to be elected to the Parliament of Norway in 2013.

Hansson was the candidate for the first seat on the party’s Oslo ballot. He narrowly defeated Hanna Marcussen, the party’s national spokesperson. Hansson, the Green Party’s only candidate for a seat in parliament, received 5.6% of Oslo’s votes on 9 September 2013. The national result was 2.8% which was below the threshold of 4% to level seats. This was the first time the Greens had a representative in parliament.

Hansson believes that Norway’s consumption needs to be cut to meet the environmental challenges. Hansson suggested during the Greens’ 2013 campaign that the country should return to the 1980s level of economic welfare, which is about half the current level. His political priorities include more attention to wind power and the conservation of the polar bear.

In court he was sentenced for civil disobedience, and he spent 30 days in Oslo kretsfengsel. In 2014 Aftenposten said that “The fines, in the order of [Norwegian] kroner ten thousand were too high for the students so they both chose the option of having themselves imprisoned for a few weeks. It felt okay. Because they regretted nothing.”
