He played in all 16 Redskins games in 2003 and blocked well for Trung Canidate’s Redskin running backs. He also protected Tim Hasselbeck and Patrick Ramsey. His efforts earned him a Pro Bowl third alternative nod. He played right guard in 15 games, but missed one due to a serious hamstring injury. Thomas was the New York Jets’ starting right guard in all 16 games during 2002, allowing Curtis Martin to run 1,094 yards. In week five against Kansas City, Thomas made his 50th career starting position and helped Martin gain 119 yards of ground. Thomas was also instrumental in helping to pave the way for the team’s 180-yard rushing offense and a 41-0 win against the Colts during the AFC Wild Card match.

On September 20, 2009, Thomas suffered a severe triceps injury in a game against the St. Louis Rams, tearing the muscle completely off the bone. He was released on March 4, 2010.
