Morris spent parts of two seasons with the Knicks and then joined the NBA Summer League team at the Atlanta Hawks in 2008. He signed a $1.7 million two- year contract with the Hawks on June 29. The next two seasons would be spent as an Atlanta player.

Morris took advantage his free agent status and signed a $1.6 million two-year contract with the New York Knicks. This was five days after Kentucky was eliminated in the NCAA Tournament. Morris signed with the Knicks, becoming the first player to move from the NCAA to NBA in the same week.

Morris was eligible to draft in 2005 after his freshman year at Kentucky. Morris was not drafted but he didn’t hire an agent so he was allowed to play college basketball with the Wildcats.

Morris made a strong debut at Kentucky his first year. He decided to declare for 2005 NBA Draft but didn’t hire an agent. He averaged 8.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He played well for Kentucky, starting all but one game. However, he was not NBA ready and frequently got into foul trouble. Morris was not drafted and decided to try to return to Kentucky. Although the NCAA granted Morris his reinstatement, he was not allowed to play in the second half of 2005-2006. Morris returned to Kentucky in January 2006. However, he was unable to help the team overcome its long-running slump. He did improve in nearly every statistic category since his freshman year, and was quite impressive at times. He averaged 13.3 points per game and 6 rebounds as a sophomore. Morris continued his progress in junior season, scoring 16.1 points, 7.8 boards, and 2.1 blocks per match, earning him first team All-SEC honors.

Morris moved to the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association ahead of the 2010-11 season. In his second season in China, he and teammate Stephon Marbury led Beijing to its first-ever CBA title. In 2014, the Ducks won their second championship, and Morris was named the CBA Finals MVP. Beijing repeated as champions in 2015, giving the Ducks a run of three titles in four years.
