Randall Goodgame is one of the most popular and richest Singer- Songwriter who was born on February 15, 1974 in Clearwater, Florida, United States. Randall Kilpatrick Goodgame, an American singer-songwriter and creator of the family music label Slugs & Bugs, was born February 15, 1974. Goodgame has released eight albums on his own and contributed to many others. He has contributed songs to Caedmon’s Call, Andrew Peterson and Jason Gray. Andrew Peterson is a frequent collaborator, including on the 2006 album Slugs & Bugs & Lullabies. The song “You Can Always Come Home” from this album was included on the VeggieTales’ The Wonderful Wizard of Ha’s (2007).

Goodgame left Birmingham-Southern to move to Nashville in May 1996 after he graduated from the university. Goodgame was introduced to Randall Goodgame by his cousin. He then took the CD to WCHZ-FM, Augusta, Georgia. The DJ received positive feedback from listeners to “Momma Louise” and invited Goodgame and the Randall Goodgame Band to perform at the South by Southwest Music Festival, Augusta, October 1996. In 2000, Goodgame released Arkadelphia, his second album. This was also the year that he performed his first show back in Clearwater.

In 2007, Goodgame collaborated with Peterson to release a children’s album, Slugs & Bugs & Lullabies. The album’s popularity led to him being invited to compose songs for the Christian-themed cartoon series VeggieTales. Goodgame continued the Slugs & Bugs brand with A Slugs & Bugs Christmas in 2010 and Slugs & Bugs Under Where? in 2011. He has also released a Slugs & Bugs-themed curriculum for Vacation Bible School and does live performances as part of the Slugs and Bugs LIVE series. An April 2015 Parents Life review of Goodgame’s Sing the Bible with Slugs & Bugs – which features 18 tracks of direct Bible quotations set to music, said the album “possesses a high-quality artistic sensibility that few children’s CDs maintain”, adding that the songs would “have kids memorizing Scripture in no time”. The album was one of five nominees for Children’s Music Album of the Year at the 47th Annual Dove Awards in 2015.

Goodgame was a Birmingham-Southern College freshman majoring in biology and music. He won the Clearwater Jazz Holiday scholarship. Goodgame later switched to English as his major, believing that exposure to different literary genres would help him write better songs. Goodgame, who was a keyboardist in the Southern rock Black Creek Band during weekends and vacations, released an album called Live from Gainesville. He toured the Southeast United States from February 1995 to August 1995 with the band, before returning to Birmingham to complete his degree. His senior project included a paper on his experiences on the road.

Randall Goodgame is the child of John T. Goodgame, Jr., a surgeon, and Beth Goodgame, his wife, from Clearwater, Florida. He began piano lessons at the age of nine with his younger brother and sister. He began studying with blind Brazilian pianist Manfredo fest at age 15. He started performing at local charity events, including fundraising for Clearwater’s Morton Plant Hospital. He was a member of the Clearwater High Jazz Band and the Swim Team captain. He also participated in the Student Government Association. Clearwater High School was where he graduated in 1992.

Goodgame’s eponymous debut album, Randall Goodgame, was released in December 1995. Except for one song, which is a cover of Bob Dylan’s I’ll Be Your Baby tonight, Goodgame composed all the music and lyrics to the ten songs. Goodgame performed the lead vocals and also played the accordion, piano, acoustic guitar and harmonica on the album. He was accompanied by other musicians on the bass guitar, percussion and drums. Redfish Records released Goodgame’s debut album. While most of the recording was done in Nashville, Tennessee at Cliff Downs’ studio, portions were made at Panda Studios in Clearwater. Robert K. Oermann, who wrote in MusicRow, called Goodgame the “folkie discovery of the day” and described his debut album as “a fantastic self-made CD full of memorable melodies and stirring production, ear-catching words, and a personable vocal”.

Goodgame eventually began writing songs for contemporary Christian artists such as Caedmon’s Call, Jason Gray, and The Midtown Project. In 2001, he opened for Andrew Peterson, and in 2003, he joined Caedmon’s Call and Jars of Clay on tour. He wrote seven of the songs on Caedmon’s Call’s 2004 album Share the Well. Also in 2004, Goodgame opened for Dove Award winner Ginny Owens’ 15-state tour.
