Kapoor joined RB in 1987 as Reckitt & Colman. He served in various roles, including Regional Sales Manager, North India, General Manager, Indian Southern Region, and Regional Marketing Director for South Asia. He was named Global Category Director for Pest Control in 1999. He was promoted to Senior Vice President, Home Care, following the merger. In 2001, he was named SVP, Northern Europe Regional Director and in July 2006, was promoted to EVP Category Development with global category management, market research, and strategic alliances.
Reckitt Benckiser admitted that Kapoor had in 2010 secured a loan for PS7.4m to purchase shares in the company. This was after discussions with the Financial Services Authority. After the revelation of undisclosed collateral use of PS201million in shares by Carphone Warehouse cofounder David Ross, this issue of executive disclosures became more prominent in 2008. According to The Daily Telegraph, “A spokesperson for the company stated that the failure to disclose loans to the market wasn’t the fault of Mr Kapoor, who had informed the company about the situation.”
In January 2019, Reckitt Benckiser announced that Kapoor is set to retire by the end of 2019. Laxman Narasimhan, PepsiCo’s chief commercial officer, will succeed Kapoor as CEO in September 2019.
