Rajesh, following the success of in The Name of Buddha, directed the music video of “Sunshowers” to Maya Arulpragasam’s (M.I.A.). For the Manorama Music channel, he directed “Ente Malayalam”, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kerala formation.
In the Name of Buddha was his 2002 film. It was later shown in the Spotlight on India section of the 2003 Cannes Film Festival. He directed Na Bangaaru Talli in 2013, which received four Nandi awards from the state of Andhra Pradesh, the National Film Award (Best Feature Film in Telugu), Best Music Direction (Background Score) and five international awards.
He has also served on the jury of 62nd National Film Awards, Govt. of India, 2014, ALIIF 2016, IIFF 2016, 65th National Film Awards, Govt. of India,2017, Filmfare awards 2017.
Rajesh’s first film, In the Name of Buddha (2002), was shown at the Oslo International Film Festival. It received critical acclaim. The film, which is controversial in its subject matter, examines the ethnic conflict that was raging in Sri Lanka at the time. It was shown at international film festivals and won the Best Foreign Film award at three film festivals: the Beverly Hills International Film Festival, Newport Beach International Film Festival, and the Wine Country International Film Festival. In the interim, Rajesh directed the Telugu films 10 the Strangers (with Alex the Blue Fox). He directed the Malayalam movie Ente in 2013. Its Telugu version, “Naa Bangaaru Talli”, won the National Film Award for the Best Feature Film In Telugu 2013 at the 2013 Trinity International Film Festival. Also, the Film maker of the Year Award from IFFCRM, Indonesia 2013 and the Award of Excellence from IFFCRM. The Nandi Awards 2013 were presented by the Andhra Pradesh Government.
