Raef al Hasan Rafa is one of the most popular and richest Drummer who was born on October 27, 1986 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Raef Al Hasan Rafa, a Bangladeshi musician and singer, was born 27 October 1986. He is also the drummer for rock band Aurthohin and Cryptic Fate. He is also a member of bands such as Severe Dementia and Kral, as well as The Joint Family. He is also the founder of AvoidRafa, a rock band.

He was the first producer to work on the album “Rafa feat.” in 2010. Topu – Sheke’. The single ‘Ektu Brishti” was also released on the album The Hit Album’. Two singles by The Joint Family – ‘Bhaar & ’The Bicycle Day’ – were also released in the albums Aashor’ & Rock-404′, respectively. The single ‘Shonga Shongjom’ of Kral was also included in the album ‘Rock-505. He continued to produce his own music and gigs with his various bands.

Throughout 2012 he appeared in several stage shows which began with his presence in ‘Guitarfest 2012’. With Severe Dementia he went for his second band tour at Nepal. They were the headliners of that concert naming ‘Ides of March’ which was organised by ‘KTM rocks’. He released the music video of The Bicycle day, some days after the tour. He also made a guest appearance in the video ‘Agnisnan’ of ‘Powersurge’. He worked as a producer in that song as well. In addition, he officially started his own company ‘Hotbox Entertainment’ where he also included video production with his primary field of work.

The beginning of 2013 kicked off with his appearance in the then most hyped up event with a few other renowned artists for the campaign ‘Go Free(Cholo Bohudur), for GrameenPhone (Telenor). He directed his first documentary ‘Chol Chol Chol’ which was a tribute to ‘Shahbagh movement’. It was quite a success for him as his first visual work. In the same year, Rafa disbanded ‘The Joint Family’ and joined ‘Cryptic Fate’ as a drummer. He appeared in the video ‘Akromon’ right after joining his new band. Meanwhile, he did a few shows and TV commercial soundtracks and started working on his solo album. He has been the front man in the show ‘Rhythm & Strings’ which was the most anticipated show that year.

He had a fairly eventful 2009, when he created his starchild “The Joint Family” to explore his unknown talents. He created some progressive and ambient tracks through this project. These are his favorite genres of music, with a psychedelic twist. Rock 202 released the first track, ‘Rebulation’. He was also the co-producer of the full-length album, ‘Fuad feat. Kona (Label: G Series, 2009). He also performed solo shows in the USA that same year.

Rafa spent a lot of time reading books about mixing and mastering sounds. He then tried to modify/remix a few songs and learned the techniques. He and Kamal co-wrote the song “Protirup” (mixed by him and masterbailed by him), which was included in the mix album “Underground”. He also did his first television commercial soundtrack for the well-respected apparel brand, ‘Ecstasy. He also met Fuad Al Muqtadir, and started working professionally with him as a producer and session musician. He also joined the death metal group Severe Dementia in the same year as a drummer, producer and bass player. He produced the single ‘Demented Mentation’ right after joining the band and went on his first tour to India with them. Aurthohin released two additional singles in 2007 – ‘Hollow’ and ‘Nirbodh’ from the albums Live Now’ (and ‘Underground 2). His first composition was ‘Hollow’. Then came Nirbodh. He also mixed and master these. Shuvo, Aurthohin’s longtime drummer, left the band in the same year and Rafa took over. He also produced the first international EP of “Severe Dementia” titled “Epitaph of Plassey”, which was released on the studio album “Rise of the Eastern Blood” under the label Demonstealer Records. It featured two Indian and Pakistani bands. He was a producer, sound engineer, singer, guitarist, and vocalist on five songs. He was also a judge in the band hunt competition “Grameenphone Drockstars-2” and produced the full-length album “Apostrut Juddho” of the winning band, “Powersurge”, which was released on the label G series in 2008.

After a 5 year break, Aurthohin released their 5th studio album, ‘Aushomapto 1’ in 2008. Rafa performed some soft melodies for Aurthohin for the first-ever time. He composed the three well-known songs, ‘Kadbe Bisshoye (punk rock), ‘Anmone’ (rock) and “Nikrishto”(heavy metal). He played solo guitar in ‘Kadbe Bisshoye,’ which earned him the public recognition as an accomplished guitarist. Fuad produced and co-produced his two other singles, ‘Pichu Hata” and ‘Smriti Charon”, which were included in the album Kromannoy’. He joined ‘FnF (Fuad & Friends), as a drummer. He produced the single “Credence of Fort William” as part of Severe Dementia. It was released on the album ‘Metal Farm Vol-6. The album was released by the Thai label Metal Farm and featured in an anime. The single Kral titled “Song for Jewel Bhai” was released in the album “Rock-101”, a well-known band mix album, which was co-ordinated and produced by Iqbal Asif Jewel. He mixed and master some of the songs on that album. He also produced a television commercial for Grameenphone, which served as the theme song to the 2008 independence day concert.

The year 2011 was rather busy for him. His solo production work ‘Ontorip’ got released in 2011 where ‘Sharmin’ gave her voice. Another production work, ‘Aundormohol’ got released which featured ‘Tanjib’ as the vocal. He mixed and mastered the first album ‘Oporajeyo’ of the band ‘Mechanix’ and the latest studio album of Aurthohin ‘ Aushomapto-2 ‘. Presumably, the last single of The Joint Family ‘Vision of a Mind’s Garden’ got released in ‘Rock-707’ that year.
