Raeesh Maniar is one of the most popular and richest Poet who was born on August 19, 1966 in Pardi, Gujarat, India. Maniar was born in Killa Pardi (Valsad), Gujarat, on 19 August 1966. His secondary education was at D.C.O. Killa completed his secondary education at D.C.O. in 1980. He then went on to complete higher secondary schooling at St. Xavier’s School in Surat in 1983. In 1991, he completed his MD (Pediatrics), at Surat Medical College.

Raesh Maniar, Gujarati: rish mniiaar, is a Gujarati language ghazal poet and translator. He is also a columnist, playwright (Gujarati) and lyricist. Kafiyanagar (1989), Shabda Mara Swabhavma J Nati (1998), and Aam Lakhvu Karave alakh Ni Safar (2011) are his most notable works. Ghazal: Roop ane Range (2006) and Ghazal Nu Chhandovidhan (2009) are two of his reference books for students studying ghazals. The latter book contains original research that could be applied to prosody in all north Indian languages. He has written lyrics to several Hindi and Gujarati language movies. He was awarded the Shayda Award by the Indian National Theater of Mumbai in 2001 and the Kalapi Award in 2016 by the Kalapi Award for his contributions to Gujarati Ghazal Poetry.

He has written songs for Gujarati films, including Kevi Rite Jaish (2012), Aa To Prem Chhe, Vishwasghat, Polampol, Musafir, Vitamin She and Je Pan Kahish Te Sachu Kahish. In 2013, he penned the background song “Thai Dod Dod Gali Vaat Mod” for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. He also wrote the script for the popular Gujarati plays Antim Aparadh, Ek Anokho Karar and Love You Jindagi. All three plays were among the winners in the Chitralekha competition. The Sandesh newspaper published his column, “Aras-paras Ni Academy”, every Sunday. Formerly, he wrote the column “Vaat Nu Vatesar”, in the same newspaper from 2010 to 2014. He has also written a column called “Paraspar” for NavGujarat Samay since 2014. now Divya Bhaskar publishes his column.

In 1989, he married Ami Patel. He currently resides in Surat.

Raesh Maniar began writing poems as an 11-year old child in 1977. He published his first poem in Gujarat Samachar, a daily newspaper, on December 11, 1981. In 1993, he began his medical career at Surat. He specialized in developmental and behavioral child psychology from 2008 onwards. He stopped working as a physician and began to freelance as a playwright, compere and lyricist.

Maniar is well-known for his humorous ghazals in Gujarati. His first book, Kafiyanagar was published in 1989. Shabda mara Swabhavma J Nathi (1998) and Aam Lakhvu Karaave alakh Ni Safar (2011) followed. He translated the major works of Kaifi Azmi and Gulzar as well as Sahir Ludhianvi, Javed Akhtar, and published them all as books. Mareez: Astitva ane Vyaktitva (2001), a biography and critique of Mareez’s works, Ghazal: Rup A Rang (2006; criticisms of the form and construction ghazals), and Ghazal Nu Chhandovidhan (2008); research articles about metres of ghazal. His works in the fields of child psychology and parenting include Baal Uchher Ni Balakhadi and Aapne Balkone Cha Mate Bhanaviye Chhiye, and Tame ane Tamaru Nirogi Balak. A novel titled Likhitang Lavanya was also written by him.

He won the Shayda Award (2001) instituted by the Indian National Theater in Mumbai. In 2002, he won an award given by Gujarati Sahitya Parishad for the best translation of Gulzar’s poetry into Gujarati. His book, Baal Uchher Ni Barakhadi, was awarded a second-place B. N. Mankad Prize for 1998–1999 by Gujarati Sahitya Parishad. He received the Kalapi Award in 2016. He received the Narmad Suvarna Chandrak award for 2012 for his book Aam Lakhvu Karave Alakhni Safar.
