She has won Paralympic gold medals for rowing and cycling. As a handcyclist, she received a gold medal at 2008 Summer Paralympics. Eight years later, at Rio, she won gold in women’s single-sculls rowing. In part to manage her pain, she lost both legs to Complex regional pain syndrome. She was born in Guildford (Surrey).

Morris was chosen to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. She was hoping to defend her title as a time trialist and to also compete in the road race. Her participation in the Games was canceled in July 2012 after she was struck by a car in a time trial near Farnham, Surrey. She suffered whiplash and shoulder injuries in the accident. Morris’ handcycle, which was also damaged in the accident, was left with severe injuries. She had to use her competition bicycle for training and purchase a new one to compete in the Paralympics. On 5 September, she was able to participate in her first Games event. Morris and Karen Darke, Morris’ teammate, crossed the line in the H1-3 road race at Games. They held hands to share the bronze medal, but the photo finish showed that Morris was first.

After speaking with former rowing team-mate-turned-cross-country skier Scott Meenagh, Morris turned her attention to skiing, first trying a sit ski in March 2018 and taking up cross-country skiing in November of that year. She made her debut at the World Para Nordic Skiing Championships in 2019 in Prince George, British Columbia.

Morris won two gold medals at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships 2010 in Baie-Comeau (Canada). Morris won her first gold medal in the individual time trial in H3 category. She finished the race in 23:34.71 seconds. Morris beat Sandra Graf, who was a silver medallist, by more than 80 seconds to win her second gold medal in road racing.

Morris was awarded two gold medals at 2007 World Para-cycling Championships, Bordeaux, France. She won the time trial as well as the road race events for women in category B. She became the first British hand-cyclist ever to be named a World Champion twice.

However Morris was forced to give up the sport after undergoing two shoulder operations after the Games, after which she spent almost a year in hospital recovering.
