Sims was assigned by the Orlando Predators to Sims in 2013. Sims was activated on May 12, 2014, from an exempt league status. Sims refused to report May 13, 2014, even though he was activated from another league exempt status. He was reassigned on June 6, 2014.
On February 5, 2016, Sims was assigned to the Cleveland Gladiators. Sims recorded career highs in all statistical categories in 2016 with 92 receptions, 1,112 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns. Sims emerged as the Gladiators number one receiver in 2017 and earned Second Team All-Arena honors.
Sims was signed to the Ottawa Redblacks’ practice roster on September 6, 2017. He was released by the Redblacks on September 12, 2017.
Sims signed on February 5, 2014 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Sims was cut May 1, 2014.

Sims was a Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets player from 2008 to 2010. Sims was the Yellow Jackets’ back-up wide receiver for two years. He helped them to 16 wins. He played at UT Martin from 2011 through 2012. He was the Skyhawks’ starter for two seasons and led them to 13 victories. Sims played in 45 games, including 22 at wide receiver. Sims was a senior in 2012 and was selected to the First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference.
Sims was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted-free agent on July 19, 2013. Sims played in all four preseason Patriots games before he was removed on August 31, 2013. Sims was signed to Patriots practice squad on September 2, 2013. Sims was cut September 10, 2013.

On October 12, 2015, the Rattlers picked up Sims’ rookie option, but on November 5, 2015, Sims was placed on recallable reassignment.
