Prokopis Pavlopoulos is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 10, 1950 in Kalamata, Peloponnese, Greece. Prokopios Pavlopoulos (Greek pronunciation: Prokopios Paolopoulos; born 10th July 1950), also known as Prokopis (Prokopes), was a Greek politician, lawyer, and university professor who served as the President of Greece between 2015 and 2020. He is a member of New Democracy and was previously Minister of the Interior between 2004 and 2009. On 13 March 2020, he was succeeded by Katerina Saklaropoulou, who became the first woman President of Greece.
He is a member of Central Committee of New Democracy and was named as one of seven candidates for the party’s Political Council on 29 July 2004. No vote was required as there were only seven seats on the Council.
On 17 February, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras nominated Pavlopoulos as the ruling Syriza–ANEL coalition’s candidate for the post of President of Greece in the presidential election that had begun in December 2014. On 18 February 2015, backed by Syriza, ANEL and his own New Democracy party, Pavlopoulos was elected by the Hellenic Parliament as the new President of Greece with 233 votes in favour. He succeeded Karolos Papoulias after the end of the latter’s term on 13 March 2015.
Pavlopoulos served as secretary to Michail Stasinopoulos in 1974, the first President of metapolitefsi. He was the alternate Minister for Presidency and the government spokesman in Xenophon Zlotas’ ecumenical government. From 1990 to 1995, he was the head of President Konstantinos Karmanlis’ legal office and a political advisor to Miltiadis, then chairman, of New Democracy. In the 1996 parliamentary elections, he was elected a Member for New Democracy. He was also elected an MP for Athens A in 2000. Evert appointed him as New Democracy’s Press and Information Spokesperson on the 20th April 1996. He then became its Parliamentary Secretary on the 14th April 2000. Pavlopoulos was repeatedly re-elected as Athens A’s President in successive elections, including the 2004, 2007, 2009, and 2012 elections.

Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the son of Vasilios Pavlopoulos, a high school principal and classicals teacher, was born in Kalamata. He grew up in Kalamata. He graduated from high school in his hometown and entered the University of Athens Law School in 1968.
On a government scholarship, he obtained his DEA at the Paris Pantheon-Assas University in 1975. He then received his PhD on Public Law in 1977. After completing his military service with the Hellenic Army (1978-1979), he returned to Greece. In 1980, he was elected Lecturer at University of Athens. He was then promoted to Reader in 1981. He was made Assistant Professor in 1983 and promoted to Associate Professor by 1986. He was elected (Full Professor) of Administrative Law in 1989. Pavlopoulos was an adjunct professor at Pantheon-Assas University in 1986.
Following the March 2004 legislative election, which was won by New Democracy, Pavlopoulos became Minister of the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralisation in the new government of the Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis on 10 March 2004. In the government appointed following New Democracy’s victory in the September 2007 parliamentary election, the Interior Ministry was merged with the Ministry of Public Order; Pavlopoulous became Minister of the Interior and Public Order.
