Prakash Pant was born 11 November 1960 in a humble Brahmin family in Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand). He was brought up in humble circumstances. From the very beginning, the young boy from village had leadership qualities. He worked tirelessly among the poor and underprivileged to ensure their success and upliftment, even though he was in government service. To work solely for the poor, he resigned as a government servant and joined Bhartiya Janta- Party with Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya his idol. He wanted to make a difference in the lives of every person in society. He was also an accomplished shooter. He won a state shooting championship gold medal in 2004. He also won a silver in the national shooting competition (G.B. Mavlankar Shooting Competition (Coimbatore), 2004. He is well-traveled and has visited many countries such as the UK, Japan and China, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, Dubai, Canada, and Malaysia.

He had been fighting cancer for some time, and he died in Texas on June 5, 2019.

Prakash Pant, 11 November 1960 – 5 Juni 2019, was an Indian Bharatiya Janata Party leader. He was also a member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. In the 2002-2007 elections, he was elected from Pithoragarh (Vidhan Saha constituency), but in the 2012 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election he lost to Mayukh Sing Mahar of Indian National Congress. He was the first speaker in Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. He also served as a minister in Government of Uttarakhand, holding portfolios of Tourism and Culture, Pilgrimage Endowment.

Prakash Pant was born with leadership qualities. Pant, a pharmacist by trade, began his political career in 1977 as General Secretary of Military Science Board. He was elected to the Municipal Council of Pithoragarh in 1978. He was elected to the Legislative Council U.P. after a period of 10 years. Pant was the first speaker in the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha when Uttaranchal (now Uttarakhand) became a state. He became the youngest speaker in the Commonwealth to address such an assembly. He was elected to the Uttarakhand Assembly in 2002 from Pithoragarh, and again in 2007. He was elected to the Uttarakhand Assembly from Pithoragarh in 2002. In 2007, he was made a cabinet minister and given the portfolio of parliamentary affairs. He was defeated by Mayukh Singh Mahar, Congress’s first defeat, but he won the 2017 election from Pithoragarh. His win is largely due to Narendra Modi’s visit to the town, which influenced the masses in favor the BJP. Pant, who was a cabinet minister in Uttarakhand, held the important portfolios Tourism, Culture and Pilgrimage Endowment and Parliamentary Affairs. Prakash Pant was recently appointed to the Finance ministry. He is responsible for entertainment, commercial, and excise taxes.
