Pongsit Kamphee is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on November 2, 1967 in Nong Khai, Nong Khai Province, Thailand. Pu Pongsit Kampee, a Nongkhai provincial resident, was born May 2, 1967 in Mueng district. He is the youngest of his siblings. Mr. Somsak, his older brother, and Mrs. Saowalak are his older sisters. His father, Mr. Sutchai is a carpenter, and his mother, Ms. Somphon is a practical nurse. Both work in a local hospital. He was educated at Wat Arun Rang Si School in kindergarten and primary school. Later, he attended Thep Witthayakhan School’s lower secondary school. Pongsit wanted to go to the Thai-Germany Technical Institute, Khon Kaen. However, he failed the test. He decided to go to North Eastern Technological College in Knon Kean. He applied again to Thai-Germany Technical Institute one year later and was successful. He also played soccer and practiced his guitar skills while he was studying. He also wrote his own song. He was able to join a senior band called “retired”, which was his first step towards becoming a musician.

The current style of music in Thailand is changing. Pongsit’s popularity has declined. He is still making new songs. Pongsit’s 25th year anniversary was celebrated in 2012 with the release of “25 year (still hope)”. In December 2015, he performed live at Wonderfruit in Pattaya.

Pongsit was famous for his 1990 album, “Sua Tua Thee 11”. Pongsit’s music (Phleng Pheua Chiwit), was still very popular at the time. He had clear vocals and a high pitch. The album received a lot of positive feedback. Pongsit was inspired by this and began to make more albums. 1992 was his peak year with the album “Ma Tam Sanya”, and the well-known songs “Sutchai,” Thai Thoe Khuen Ma”, and “Ma Tam Sanya.” He was finally given the names “Phleng Pheua Chiwit3rd Legend” (Chaopho Phleng Rak Phuea Chiwit)

Pongsit, after being educated at Technical Institute, decided to move to Bangok to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. Pongsit was inspired to become a musician by his primary school studies and his favourite musicians Nga Caravan and Lek Carabao (Pricha Chanaphai). He was inspired by Caravan, his first band and the first step to becoming a real musician. He joined the band in 1987 as a backup bass player and was given the opportunity to perform at an open concert for the band. His 1987 solo album, “Thueng Phuean”, was released on contract by Buffalo Head Company. This album featured a well-known song, “Thueng Phuean”.

Kampee is well-known from 1990’s song “Ta Lod Wela”, which was released by Rod Fai Don Tri. This song was later removed from album Bun Terk Karn Dern Tang. Due to copyright (music licensing) problems. Pongsit took the song and replaced it with “Rong rien Khong noo”. After releasing the album, his most popular songs were “Kid tung”, “Rong rien Khong Noo”, “tur phn Siasala”, “tur phn sok” and “mae”.

Pongsit’s nickname is “Pu”. Some people call him “Kampee” by surname that he call himself. In 1992 Kampee released album “Ma tam sanya” (came as promised) and it had popular song “Sutchi”(deep in mind), “Thai thoe khuen Ma”(Take her back) and “Ma tam sanya” (came as promised ). In this album he had opportunities to work with his favorite artist “Lek carabao”. In that year Pongsit had been the most popular then people called him “Phleng Pheua Chiwit Legend” or “The godfather of Pheua Chiwit love song”.
