Although she was surrounded by delicious food, her mother inspired her. In 2000, she moved to the UK to attend Oxford University. After arriving in the UK, she began to try Malaysian cuisine. She lives in Bath with Andrew, her husband and their two daughters Alexa and Luna. She divides her time between London and Bath.
Her first book Malaysian was published in May 2016.
She has also appeared in John Torode’s Malaysian Adventure and has been guest chef on popular daytime talk shows such as This Morning, and Sunday Brunch. She was invited to appear as a guest judge on MasterChef 2019.
She was named Consultant Chef of the Pan-Asian group by Ping Pan-Asian in November 2015. The Selfridges Kitchen in Selfridges department store on Oxford Street is where Chi Kitchen was first opened. The Selfridges Foodhall also houses the Ping Pan Asian delicatessen.
