Musica Amphion was founded by Belder to play mostly Baroque music. In 2004, they recorded all of Arcangelo Corelli’s works and the entire Tafelmusik by Georg Philipp Telemann. The two began a project called Etcetera Bach in Context in which they combined Bach’s vocal works with organ compositions that were focused on a particular theme. The fifth recording features the organist and the Gesualdo Consort. It includes the Organ Sonata, E-flat major (BWV 525), the funeral cantata Actus Tragicus (BWV 106) and the motet Komm. Jesu. komm (BWV 229).

Belder was born in Capelle aan den IJssel. He studied recorder at Ricardo Kanjii’s Koninklijk Conservatorium, The Hague and harpsichord at Bob van Asperen’s Sweelinck Conservatorium, Amsterdam. Both fields were his graduation in 1990.

In 1997, Belder was awarded the NDR-Musikpreis Hamburg and the International Bach Competition Leipzig in 2000. As a continuo player, he has been a part of ensembles like the Nederlandse Bachvereniging and Collegium Vocale Gent as well as the Concertgebouworkest, Camerata Trajectina, and the Concertgebouworkest.

Belder took part in the recordings of the complete works by Johann Sebastian Bach by the label Brilliant Classics, including Das wohltemperierte Klavier. He recorded for the label also all 555 keyboard sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti in 2007, and keyboard compositions by Antonio Soler and Jean-Philippe Rameau. He has worked from 2010 to 2013 recording the complete Fitzwilliam Virginal Book of more than 300 pieces. Belder used different instruments for the different character of compositions by William Byrd, Peter Philips, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Giles Farnaby and John Bull, among others.
