Scharmann has ended his motorsports career in 1979 when he was the driver of Formula 2, choosing to dedicate his time to his career as a professional and to his family. Scharmann completed his studies at The HTL in Klagenfurt in Klagenfurt, where he educated as an engineer in mechanical engineering.
