Peter William Hendy (born 10 January 1962) is an ex- Australian politician. The politician was Liberal member of his Australian House of Representatives seat of Eden-Monaro in New South Wales from 2013 until 2016. Hendy was the assistant minister for productivity within the First Turnbull Ministry between September 2015 to February 2016 and was Assistant Secretary of Cabinet as well as Assistant Minister of the Minister of Finance until February of 2016. Hendy was sacked in the federal election of 2016 by losing it to Labor presidential candidate Mike Kelly.

The year 2001 was the first time Hendy became involved as a participant in The Children Overboard affair as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence. An investigation by the Senate Committee inquiry into the incident found that the Committee did not receive “any compelling evidence that Mr. Reith’s staff acted in any way other than honestly and in good faith.”

In January 2008 Hendy left the ACCI to take up a position as Chief of Staff to Liberal leader, Brendan Nelson. He was one of three ACCI officials who joined Nelson’s staff at the time.
