He was disqualified for doping in June of 1986, after failing a test for drugs, which appealed. His appeal was rejected , and the athlete was suspended for 18 months of the Canadian Track and Field Association. He said the athlete was taking muscles-building substances since 1983, but that he appealed his June 1986 test for drugs because it showed that he and his two teammates were taking a particular substance that they’d not used. He also said that the practice was common among participants from the University of Texas, Arlington where he studied. He also said his reinstatement by the Canadian Track and Field Assn. only after threatening to reveal the use of anabolic steroids of sprinter Ben Johnson and other athletes. He had a conversation with Steve Findlay, an athletes representative for the CTFA in Ottawa; “I threatened to turn in the world’s fastest human being,” Dajia stated. “I told him I had some information about Ben and Angella (Taylor Issajenko), and Dr. (Jamie) Astaphan, also, and that I’d be speaking to a reporter. I had nothing to lose.” Dajia was allowed to participate in National championships held in 1988, a month later in Ottawa and finished second. However, he was prohibited from competing internationally through the government of the United States. He also was not allowed to compete in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.
Dajia later represented Canada at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, where he finished eleventh.
