Peter Robert McKee was born on February 1, 1966, in Sheffield to steelworker Frank McKee and Marjorie McKee (nee Bullas) and grew in an estate owned by the council in the Jordanthorpe region of Sheffield with two brothers who were older and a younger sister. His mother passed away from cancer at the age of 8 years old.

In June of 2010, McKee inaugurated an art gallery “A Month of Sundays” located on Sharrow Vale Road in Hunters Bar, Sheffield.

In early 2010 McKee was invited to design a limited edition pair of Clarks Desert Boots, using the original style template. To celebrate the heritage of the original boot he created images featuring a group of Mods, for the men’s boot, and Modettes for the women’s. The boots were sold in selected Clarks stores, specifically in Paris, New York and Japan.

2012 saw McKee being invited to take part in a special project from Warp Films, celebrating its tenth birthday. Pete was asked to re-create ten posters from ten of their iconic films, including Dead Man’s Shoes, Submarine and This is England.

In 2007, McKee was approached from Oasis musician Noel Gallagher to paint him in the Gibson Guitar’s “Guitar Town” show. McKee painted the painting of the musician on the 10-foot fibreglass guitar that was showcased as part of the open-air exhibition at the London’s South Bank. In 2009, he designed artwork to accompany The Arctic Monkeys boxed set At the Apollo.

Pete McKee (born 1 February 1966) is a commercial artist and painter born in Sheffield, England. Pete McKee is also a cartoonist for Sheffield Telegraph’ s sports section. He is regularly exhibited throughout across the North of England. With bright colors, his characters depict a world full of working men’s clubs bingo halls, bingo halls and excursions with the family to the seaside. Football is also prominently featured in his work , even though it is not uncommon for him to depict the fans of both sides of the separated football fields of Sheffield: Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday as well as which is the team he loves.

Later in 2010 McKee collaborated with fashion designer Sir Paul Smith, staging an exhibition of his work at Smith’s Tokyo store. This saw the development of Teenage Kicks – a limited edition book celebrating the influence of music on youth fashion. Selected images were reproduced on Paul Smith clothing and bags specifically for the Japanese market.
