For a long time Kindgren used to play a classical guitar made by Swiss musician Philippe Jean-Mairet, which he purchased in 1987. One of his friends, Jorgen, had bought an instrument from the Swiss Luthier who had met in Bern during his studies and he was awed by its quality. Kindgren demanded that his friend buy a guitar nine months later, and he could travel to Jean-Mairet from Switzerland to play with his new instrument. He had previously owned the Martin Fleeson guitar, which was bought at Manchester, England in 1986 for 25000 DKK (about $4,400 or EUR3,350 in the year). A year later, Kindgren purchased his Jean-Mairet model.
In 1979, he teamed up with three other guitarists Steffen Broe Christensen Dag Egil Berge along with Torsten Borbye Nielsen. Together, they created The Nordic Guitar Quartet, which gave more than 400 performances throughout its existence. Kindgren composes solo guitar and also for trios, duets, quartets, as well as up to septets or octets on guitar. In 1998, he composed music for orchestra, choir, as well as a rock band to celebrate the 25th anniversary celebration of the Vallensbaek Music School and in 2000, he wrote an Oratorio for Christmas that incorporated organ and guitar, flutes as well as a choir and the narrator. Kindgren was born in Bogota, Colombia, to an Swedish father and an Danish mother. Her father Owe Engineer employed by his company, the Colombian department of LM Ericsson installing telephone stations. The family relocated to Stockholm at the age of Kindgren was just three years old. He was there until the year 1960. When he was just 6 years old, Kindgren became fascinated with the bright red electric guitar displayed in a shop window. The Beatles became his favorite band and he particularly admired Paul McCartney. His parents bought him an instrument of classical music on the seventh day of his birthday. In 1970, he watched the documentary about John Williams broadcast on Danish national television. From that point onwards was clear about what he wanted to be. When Kindgren was just 14 year old, the family relocated to the town bordering Helsingor within Denmark. In Helsingor, he could go to the Swedish High School in Helsingborg which is where he first was introduced to one of his teachers in classical guitar Torvald Nilsson.
In the year 1976, Kindgren began his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen which is where he stayed to during his studies, and where he is presently living and working currently. He was a student for seven years under the guidance of professor Per-Olof Johnson until his graduation in 1983. As he continued the course, he was made a music instructor, instructing in the music school situated in Vallensbaek in the city of Vallensbaek and Gentofte for a total of 24 years. Presently, Kindgren is employed as an instructor for the Music School in Gentofte which allows him to earn a regular salary and the performances which he plays.
In the summer 2006, Kindgren went to guitar builder Per Hallgren in Gråbo, near Gothenburg, in order to have the guitar french polished again. In 2009 he started to play a guitar by Per Hallgren and since then he has played several instruments by the swedish builder.
