Paula Pareto is one of the most popular and richest Judoka who was born on January 16, 1986 in San Fernando, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Paula Belen Pareto (born 16 January, 1986) is an Argentine judge and a doctor.

In August of 2015, Paula won the gold medal at the World Judo Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan, her first world title. In the 2016 Summer Olympics, Paula defeated Jeong Bo-kyeong in order to win her first Olympic gold medal.

She was the flag bearer for her country at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

She was a medical student in the University of Buenos Aires and completed her studies in March 2014.

She was awarded the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics with one of the dramatic games of the entire tournament. She was playing against Pak Ok-Song of North Korea. The Korean judoka was in full force throughout the match and received an koka midway through the match due to his activeness. The drama started in the last 10 seconds after Pak initiated a technique, however Paula used the technique to her advantage that was opposite to the Korean’s technique. The jury had to decide if they considered the technique to be Pak possibly because she moved before the Korean. At the final Pak was elated with her medal and Paula wept, but her coach Carlos Denegri lodged an objection which led to the jury checking the video. They finally were of the opinion to the claim that they were Pareto who invented this method (Kuchiki-taoshi) and therefore she was awarded the medal.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics at Beijing in an interview , she stated that she was single. her mother Mirta said it was as if “You are engaged to judo”.

In December 2015, Paula received the Gold Olimpia Award as the best athlete of the year from her country.
