The month of March was when Aboud declared her intention to run for Congress and announced her intention to run as a candidate in the Democratic primary for Giffords’ House seat in the newly rededicated 2nd district of Congress. She resigned from the race shortly after and she later endorsed Ron Barber. In accordance with Arizona’s law on term limits she was not able to seek re- election to the Senate in 2012.
