Paul Shinners (born 8 January 1959) is a pastor exorcist, spiritual healer as well as a supporter for the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Act and former footballer who played forward for the Football League for Gillingham, Colchester United and Leyton Orient.

Shinners was the subject of controversy over his trip on a trip to Uganda during December of 2012 in which the Ugandan paper, The Daily Monitor, claimed that he had expressed support for the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2014 which is also known under”the “Kill the Gays” Bill. Shinners did not deny his involvement in and in support of the Bill but video footage was later brought to light that showed Shinners’ support for the death penalty for homosexuals.

Shinners had only four appearances for Gillingham during the 1984-85 campaign He only started one match. Colchester United manager Cyril Lea was the manager who took Shinners to the club on loan during March of 1985 and their debut postponed until mid-April because of injuries. Shinners made his debut on the 16th April with a 1-1 draw away against Torquay United. Shinners scored one goal in his six match for the U’s and it came in the final fixture of the year, which was a 3-2 loss against Port Vale at Layer Road on May 6, 1985.

In Westminster, London, Shinners started his career with Southern League club Fisher Athletic and scored over 200 goals. He was the league’s top scorer during the 1983-84 season. This led to him being a target for Gillingham who hired Shinners in October of 1984. Shinners is also the holder of the Fisher Athletic record of most ever goals scored by the club, scoring more than 205 goals.

Shinners quit Gillingham to join Leyton The Orient in August of 1985. There, Shinners was the top scorer at Leyton Orient during his debut season, scoring 19 goals in all contests. In the following season, he sustained multiple injuries and ended his time with Leyton O’s having scored 32 goals across 77 league matches. He joined Conference club Barnet in the beginning of January,

1989. after which he became a fitness education consultant following the removal of his boots.
