Paul D’Amour (born May 12 1967) is an American musician, and the first bass guitarist of Tool. His bass sound is recognizable through the loud, distorted tone that he created with the Chris Squire Signature Rickenbacker 4001CS that is heard in Tool’s debut complete album Undertow. Since March, 2019 He has been the bassist for the band industrial metal Ministry.

At present, D’Amour plays bass in the group Lesser Key. The group is comprised consisting of Andrew Zamudio (vocals), Brett Fanger (guitar), and Justin Hanson (drums). The group “represents an exploration into personal and artistic freedom.” On the 26th of July 2013, the band released a music video for their first track “Intercession.” The band’s debut EP was created by ex- Tool producer Sylvia Massy and released on April 1, 2014 via Sumerian Records.

Since the beginning of the year 2005 D’Amour is writing music and performing as Feersum Ennjin. The name was an homage to the science fiction book Feersum Endjinn by Iain Banks who is the author of The Wasp Factory is the the conceptual as the basis for Lusk and Lusk. The group has released a self- titled EP through Silent Uproar Records. A self-titled album came out through Dissociated Press, featuring some songs that were previously released and new tracks. The first track on the album, “The Fourth”, former Tool bandmate Danny Carey plays drums.

Following his exile after his departure from Tool, D’Amour played guitar in a group called Replicants which was a cover group comprised of Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards from Failure along with Chris Pitman. They released their self- titled debut album in 1995. In late of March 2019, D’Amour announced that he officially joined Ministry as the band’s newest bass player replacing Tony Campos.
