Jonathan Patrick Wimberly (born May 29, 1983) is an American record producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and mixing engineer, best known as being one-half of the synth-pop duo, Chairlift. The band parted ways in 2017 so Patrick and former bandmate Caroline Polachek could focus on their careers as producers/songwriters.

The other artists Patrick has collaborated with are critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated performers like Solange, Beyonce, Dev Hynes as well as a host of others. Wimberly is a long-time friend along with Solange since 2011 but it wasn’t until 2016’s release of A Seat at the Table that Wimberly proved his expertise in creating several tracks on the album, which made it to number one on the Billboard 200. Wimberly recorded “No Angel” with Caroline Polachek and Caroline Polachek, which was included on Beyonce’s self-titled album 2013 and was an album that reached the top spot in the Billboard charts. In 2016 Patrick collaborated together with Dev Hynes of Blood Orange who composed, produced, and performed on a variety of songs. In the same time period, he collaborated with Wet to record their sophomore album Don’t You. Chairlift launched their 3rd studio album at this period, and Patrick played a major part in the production together with Caroline. Kelsey Lu co-produced her live EP Church together with Patrick in 2016 also.

Patrick’s collaborations reach across a comprehensive spectrum of artists and genres, including working with Fort Lean on their 2012 Change Your Name EP. During this point, he also worked with Latin singer, Tecla, in which he composed, produced, and performed on the record We Are The Lucky Ones. Das Racist also employed Patrick’s talents during this period of time as well, having him thoroughly collaborate on their album entitled, Relax.

Following Does You Inspire You, Patrick worked on Chairlift’s 2012 sophomore album Something (Chairlift album). The album features singles “Amanaemonesia” (2011), “Met Before” (2012), and “I Belong In Your Arms” (2012)

Patrick has been making records since the year his debut in. Following the demise of Chairlift in the year 2017 Patrick has been spending the majority of his time creating records and working with various artists. For 2018, Patrick created MGMT’s fifth album Little Dark Age. The Public Access T.V. ‘s February album Street Safari was also produced by Wimberly. This album was made in Wimberly’s studio located in Brooklyn. Patrick was the producer of the hit single “Sweet Sound of Ignorance” by Soko who is a French-born, LA-based musician and singer, who was released in the year 2017.

Originating from Nashville, TN Patrick met with bandmate Caroline Polachek at the University of Colorado in 2004. After the move into New York City in 2006, Patrick and Caroline, along with former bandmate Aaron Pfenning, formed Chairlift in the early part of 2007.

His first appearance on television with Chairlift, was on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson playing their breakout single “Bruises” off their first LP. Other notable television performances, include playing drums with Das Racist on November 28, 2011, playing their hit “Michael Jackson” on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
