Growing up from Bend, Oregon. Cashman also has an older brother called Mike Cashman who is a former player of the Los Angeles Lakers, and is currently an adjunct teacher for the Mukilteo School District. Cashman has graduated from Bend High School in 1968 and studied communication and journalism at the University of Portland. Following graduation, he was employed in radio stations in Bend, Ontario, and Eugene and then moved to television which he created local commercials for KEZI. Later, he joined KTVB which is located in Boise, Idaho, where the production director was also in charge. He also developed “Peculiar Playhouse,” a local comedy show that aired following Saturday Night Live.

Cashman relocated from KING-TV at Seattle in the year 1980, and there was again involved in the production of local commercials, which included spots to promote Seattle Mariners. Seattle Mariners baseball club. He was a frequent cast actor on the long-running comedy show for the area, Almost Live! alongside partner John Keister, as well as an announcer for Bill Nye the Science Guy. On radio, he’s presented the Pat Cashman Show an early morning drive-time show that airs with John Keister on several Seattle stations.
