Paradorn Srichaphan (Thai: phraadr sriichaaphanthu ; RTGS: Pharadon Sichaphan ; known as [pha.ra:.do:n si:.tcha:.phan]; born on the 14th of June, 1979) is a former professional player of tennis from Thailand. The Thai was among the very first male tennis player in Asia to be placed among the top 10 players in the ATP rankings, achieving an all-time high in the world rankings at number. 9. The nickname he has is “Ball”. He was a bachelor of Social Sciences from Ramkhamhaeng University.

Paradorn is extremely well-known in Asia and especially in Thailand. He was Thailand’s flag-bearer during the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece but lost in the opening singles round in the first round to Joachim Johansson. His greatest Olympics performance came in the second round in Sydney where he defeated Attila Savolt, before being defeated by third-ranked Magnus Norman. Paradorn has big serves and strong forehands. He has a single-handed hand for his backhand, and is well-known as a weak player on clay courts because of his inability to stay patient when playing point.

In the 2006 Wimbledon Championships, Paradorn was seeded 29th but was upset in the first round by Agustín Calleri in five sets. He did not perform well in all the events he participated in early 2007 due to a wrist injury and he missed basically the whole 2007 season. As a result, his ranking fell to below No. 900. After the end of the ATP Masters Series event in Miami that ended in early April 2007, Paradorn fell entirely out of the ATP rankings. He began practicing as of March 2008, however it took him until the 2009 Thailand Open to return to the ATP World Tour, playing doubles. He retired in June 2010, following a motorcycle crash that left him with two broken hands and a wrist.

At the 2006 Indian Wells masters tournament, Paradorn reached the semifinals and lost against World No. 1 Roger Federer. En route to the semifinal he beat World No. 20 Robby Ginepri in the second round, World No. 16 Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain in the third round, World No. 4 David Nalbandian in the fourth round, and World No. 25 Jarkko Nieminen of Finland in the quarterfinals.

Paradorn began the professional ATP professional career back in the year 1998. He was at the bottom on the pro circuit for a few years. But his standing was steadily rising. After having been a surprise finalist in the 2000 Hopman Cup, 2002 was a significant year for him when he managed to climb into the top 30 after beating Andre Agassi in Wimbledon. In 2003, he was awarded his first ATP singles title and The Hamlet Cup. He advanced to the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2003, where he was defeated by Andy Roddick in four sets becoming the first player to beat Rafael Nadal in a Grand Slam tournament. He also made it to the fourth round of the US Open losing to Lleyton Hewitt. In the finals this year, Hewitt had been placed World No. 11 .
