Reed and Beatrice W. Reed, Ditchoff was raised by two brothers and sisters living in Lansing as well as East Lansing, Michigan. She began writing poetry and stories when she was seven years old. Ditchoff obtained an Associate diploma in English from Lansing Community College while raising three children as a single mom. She graduated with a BA degree in Communications Arts at Michigan State University (1982) and an MA in English/Creative Writing at Michigan State University (1985). Ditchoff worked for WFSL-TV47, in Lansing as the head copywriter/creative consultant and later as a Graduate Teacher Assistant for Michigan State University. Ditchoff is engaged with Paul Ditchoff and lives in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Ditchoff relocated into Liverpool in 2006 to write her third novel Mrs. Beast (Stay Thirsy Press 2009) which is which is about the lives of Grimm’s Fairy Tales princesses after marriage. The sequel of Ditchoff’s Mrs. Beast called Princess Beast was released through Stay Thirsty Press in September 2010.
The Mirror of Prodigies and Monsters (Coffee House Press 1995) was an oral story that was semi-fictional about giants, dwarves conjoined twins, bearded women. The novel was featured in an NPR segment called All Things Considered. The second novel by Ditchoff Seven Days & Seven Sins (2003) was published by Shaye Areheart Books at Random House. The novel was described as an e-book that resembles Our Town, the novel focused on the hidden tragedies and the hope of redemption hidden into every home in the typical suburban community located in Lansing, Michigan.
