Othella Harrington (born on January 31 1974) is an American former professional basketball player. When he completed his high school playing career in Murrah High School, she enrolled as a college player at Georgetown University where he teamed with the future NBA player Allen Iverson. Harrington was selected 30th overall (1st pick in 2nd round) at the time of the 1996 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. The year 2011 was the first time Harrington got a job as an assistant at old school, Georgetown.
In his time at the powerhouse basketball school Murrah, Harrington was ranked at the top of the list or second (depending according to the magazine) together with Jason Kidd, as the top player in the United States. In his senior season, he scored 28.9 per game, 24.9 rebounds, and 5.8 blocked shots per game. He had 2,303 total rebounds during his time at Murrah which is second in all-time record in basketball history at high school as per the National Federation of State High School Associations (the record is 3,059 set by Bruce Williams of Florien, Louisiana). In his junior season , he had 756 total rebound, and during his senior year his total was 971. This is second in the top ten results all time for basketball at high schools after Bruce Williams’ 1,139 in 1979-80. After having been named Mr. Basketball in the state of Mississippi for the second time in a row year, and also being named the the first-team All-American in each of the two organizations, Parade as well as USA Today, Harrington was named the as the winner in that year’s McDonald’s All American game as the game record was set with 21 rebounds together with 19 points.
