Oskar Eriksson is one of the most popular and richest Curler who was born on May 29, 1991 in Karlstad Municipality, Värmland County, Sweden. Oskar Eriksson (born 29 May 1991) is an Swedish player from Karlstad. He is currently a third player for the Niklas Edin rink. He has been a four-time World Curling Champion, seven-time European Curling Champion, and the first ever curler to have gold medals won in three major curling championships within the same calendar year: the World Men’s Curling Championship, the European Curling Championship, and the World Mixed Doubles Championship. It is also the sole participant in Team Sweden to have competed in every one of the World Men’s Curling Championships from 2011 to the year 2019. He has won medals in every only one tournament and also played in a variety of positions, including skip (silver, 2014), third (gold skip (silver and 2014) and third (gold and silver, 2015, 2018 2019, 2019 and silver 2017.) second (bronze 2012) as well for an additional position (gold 2013, 2013 and bronze and bronze, 2011,). As part in Team Niklas Edin the team has also been awarded 3 Grand Slam Curling Events, and the Pinty’s Trophy, and was the first men’s team from outside Canada to win the Pinty’s Cup.

In his role as an alternative for Team Edin during this period, Eriksson received numerous medals which included two gold awards at the European Curling Championships (2009 and 2012) and three World Curling Championship medals, including his first World Championship gold medal (2013) and two bronze medals (2011 and 2012). In 2012, he was a participant in the World Men’s Curling Championship, however, he was as a second player in all games , with the exception of three due to Niklas Edin who was the skip of record suffered from an injury to the disc injury in his back. Eriksson also played in this position in the playoffs during which Team Sweden was awarded the 2nd World Curling Championship bronze medal. He also made his debut Olympic appearances for Team Edin, coming in fourth at the games of 2010 Winter Olympics and receiving a bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

In 2012 Eriksson was inducted into the Swedish Curling Hall of Fame.

In May 2014, Edin and Team Eriksson came to an agreement to form a new Team Edin, with Edin skipping the team in the fourth position and Oskar Eriksson playing third along with Kristian Lindström playing second and Christoffer Sundgren in the lead position. When Lindström underwent surgery in 2016, Rasmus Wranå took over as second. From the start, however, the new Team Edin team immediately saw their increased potential and aimed to become the number one team in the world. Indeed, Team Edin was ranked first at the end of the 2016–17 curling season on both lists and finished in first place on the prize money list in the 2017-18 curling season. The team also reached the finals of the European Curling Championships every year since forming a new team, winning gold in all years but one (2014-2017 and 2019) and winning silver once (2018). The team also secured medals in the finals of the World Curling Championships every year except 2016, winning three gold (2015, 2018 and 2019) and one silver (2017).

With his own team Eriksson and his team, however, Eriksson and his teammates were acknowledged as a highly athletic team. They won numerous international tournaments, including Oslo Cup (2009), Swiss Cup Basel (2012), European Masters (2013) and Oslo Cup (2009), Swiss Cup Basel (2012) and European Masters (2013), and the Winter Universiade (2013). For the season 2013-2014, Team Eriksson reached second position on the Swiss Cup Basel, Mercure Perth Masters as well as the Sweden’s Elite Series and competed in Canada on the World Curling Tour, coming in fifth position in three events, and advancing to their very first Grand Slam Quarterfinal at the National. The team won in the Swedish Men’s Curling Championships that year Team Eriksson was chosen to represent Sweden at the 2014 World Men’s Curling Championship in the same way that the team Edin had played for Sweden at Sweden’s participation in the European Curling Championships. Team Eriksson made it to the finals and was awarded the silver medal at the finals of their World Curling Championship debut.

After the joining of Team Lit in 2008, Eriksson played with two teams. The team he was on during that time included Team Lit, alternatively known as Team Lindstrom and eventually Team Eriksson. Eriksson did not play for the team throughout the period from 2009 to 2014. From 2009 until February 2014, he was the presumed alternative to Team Niklas Edin together with Niklas Edin, Sebastian Kraupp, Fredrik Lindberg, and Viktor Kjall, playing at the World Curling Championships, European Curling Championships as well as the both the 2010 and the 2014 Olympic Games. However, during this time, Team Lit became more competitive than Team Edin and was well known as one of Sweden’s best two curling teams for men in Sweden.

Eriksson had his first attempt for an junior world championship when he was just sixteen years old during the 2007 World Junior Curling Championships, taking his initial team made up from Henric Jonsson Markus Franzen, and Nils Karlsson to win a silver medal. They lost at the end against the US team skippered by Chris Plys. After 2008, Eriksson relocated to Harnosand to play with other promising curlers in the Harnosands gymnasium. He was also a part of Team Lit/Lindstrom, formed by brothers Kristian Lindstrom and Alexander Lindstrom along with Christoffer Sundgren and Henrik Leek. The team immediately enjoyed success in the junior circuit and also won at the top of the division. The team that Eriksson was part of Eriksson had his second go to win winning the silver medal in the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships, but he was unable to secure a fourth place finishing, but lost the bronze medal game against the US team which was skippered by Plys. While the team didn’t be able to participate in the 2010 championships, Eriksson and his teammates eventually won gold during the 2011 World Junior Curling Championships, beating Team Switzerland which was captain by Peter de Cruz, by 6-5 at the end of the championship. As of 2012, Eriksson’s team weren’t eligible anymore for junior competition. Eriksson took over the team CK Granit-Gavle, consisting of Ludwig Grann, Erik Olund and Magnus Rudstrom, at the 2012 Swedish Junior Curling Championships with the intention of being eligible to compete in an appearance at the World Junior Curling Championship. Erikssons team was undefeated till the finals but they were second against the team of Sundyberg led by his partner Rasmus Wrana.

Currently, Eriksson is the only Swedish curler to have taken part in nine consecutive World Curling Championships in the men’s division (2011-2019). Eriksson has also competed in eleven consecutive European Curling Championships, winning a record seven gold medals, a record that he shares only with Niklas Edin. With Team Edin, Eriksson has won four World Curling Championship gold medals (in 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2019), placing him in an elite group of curlers to hold four World Championship titles. In 2019, Eriksson became the first curler in history to hold three key gold medals in a single calendar year: the World Curling Championship, the European Curling Championship, and the World Mixed Doubles Championship (with Anna Hasselborg). As part of Team Edin, Eriksson, Niklas Edin, and Christoffer Sundgren also became the first men’s curlers to simultaneously hold the World Curling Championship and European Curling Championship titles in two separate calendar years (2015 and 2019). Eriksson and Edin had previously become the first men’s curlers to simultaneously hold those same titles in three separate competition seasons (2012-2013, 2014–2015, and 2017-2018).
