Olsen Racela is one of the most popular and richest Basketball Player who was born on November 1, 1970 in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Rodericko Cesar Escueta Racela, also called Olsen Racela, (born November 1st 1970) is the head coach of the FEU Tamaraws ‘ men’s basketball team. He is also an assistant coach at the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is a former PBA player, and is believed to be among the greatest point guards who were ever in that league. In addition, he played as a prominent player of the Philippine national basketball team several times.

As of 1998, the play began to improve, and she was awarded a place with the Tim Cone-coached Philippine Centennial Team that took the bronze medal at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand. After a few seasons and with Racela as its best player, San Miguel became the league’s dynasty of the future under Jong Uichico, winning five titles between 1999 and 2001.

Despite the missed free-throws, Racela continued to shine in his point guard duties with San Miguel. In 2004, he dished his 2,000th career assist and was the starting point guard when the Beermen won another title in the 2005 PBA Fiesta Conference.

Starting in the 2007-08 All Filipino Conference, Racela occasionally played off the bench in preparation for his retirement and later life as an assistant coach.

The year 1997 was the time Racela had been traded to San Miguel Beermen for merely two second-round picks over the following three years, beginning 1998. This was the turning point in his career. Under the new San Miguel head coach Ron Jacobs Racela’s abilities were noticed by a new Beermen team that included Nelson Asaytono, Freddie Abuda and Mike Mustre.

Racela was a player for his team the Ateneo Blue Eagles in a support role for Jun Reyes and was a part of the Blue Eagles team that won the UAAP title in 1988. Racela also played in the Philippine Amateur Basketball League and the RP Youth Team.

Some argued that the blame rested on Jong Uichico’s coaching strategy in which he did not set up a plan to ease Racela’s pressure from the 15 foot line.
