Oleh Lyashko is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on December 3, 1972 in Chernihiv, Ukraine. Lyashko was born in Chernihiv on December 3rd, 1972. He grew up in the village of Lozovivka, Starobilsk Raion where his mother was. When Lyashko was just two an old boy, his parents divorced the mother had to transfer his son into an orphanage. Lyashko was educated in three school boarding: Yablunivskoy, Komarovskaya and Borznyansky. He was an assistant shepherd on the Progress collective farm. Following his secondary education, he went to college to study tractor operator studies. In a September 2015 interview Lyashko claimed that being a shepherd was his summer job in 1987 and 1988 when he was a 14 years old, every summer would arrive at Luhansk Oblast and earn up 300 rubles per year. Then, Lyashko would spend money on Starobilsk clothes and shoes. After he finished from his boarding school Lyashko was able to save around 2000 rubles saved up, but was all “burnt” (out of the post-Soviet inflation).

Between 1995 and 1996 , Lyashko served as editor of two newspapers Politika as well as Pravda Ukraine. In August 1996 , he was appointed the Chief Editor of Politika. It was in 1999 that the newspaper was shut down by a decision by the Moscow District Court in Kiev because of “divulging state secrets”. From 2000 until 2006, Lyashkov was the chief Editor for Freedom (for “Newspaper “Policy”).

Lyashko was elected as a deputy to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament) in the 2006 parliamentary election for Bloc Yulia Tymoshenko (BYT) (No. 26 in the list). Chairman of the Subcommittee on the organization of the Supreme Council of the Parliamentary Committee on Rules, Ethics and maintenance of the parliament.

Lyashko was elected as a deputy to the Verkhovna Rada in the 2006 and 2007 parliamentary election for Bloc Yulia Tymoshenko (BYT) and in the 2012 parliamentary election and 2014 parliamentary election for his Radical Party. Prior to this, he was a journalist.

On June 21, 1993 Lyashko was detained and charged for embezzlement of funds in the grand scheme. On the 9th of December 1994, The Criminal College of the Kiev City Court determined Lyashko guilty in accordance with the acts 191 19, 191 and 194 section 3.3 part 3 of 194 part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The judge decided Lyashko guilty of embezzling 1300 000 rubles in his own name and 1100 000 roubles together with accomplices. Lyashko has been sentenced six years of prison time and sequestration of his property. In the end, the Supreme Court reduced the time to 4 years ‘ imprisonment. Lyashko received his release in the month of May in 1995 under the amnesty based on being the “50th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany”. In 1998 the criminal case was thrown out. Lyashko himself has claimed that the case was a retribution for his criticism of journalistic work. Lyashko claims his case was not true by the vice minister for Internal Affairs Veniamin Bartashevych.
