Oleg Khoma is one of the most popular and richest Philosopher who was born on October 30, 1966 in Vinnytsia, Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukraine. Oleg Khoma (born 30th October 1966) is a Ukrainian historical writer of European philosophy as well as translator, researcher and commentator about 17th as well as 20th century French philosophy. Researcher for Blaise Pascal Rene Descartes and Nicolas Malebranche.

2001 was granted by the Programme for Support for publishing “Skovoroda”, carried out by the French Embassy as well as The French Institute within Ukraine (for the publication and translation of the Jean-Jacques Rousseau treatise “The Social Contract, or Principles of Political Right”).

2011 received a special award of the Ukrainian Philosophical Foundation for Promotion of philosophical commentary.

2015 was again awarded the “Skovoroda Prize” (for the edition «Descartes’ “Meditations“ in mirror of modern interpretations»).

To raise quality of education, in the year 2000 he established Sententiae which was which was the premier Ukrainian academic journal focusing on the area of philosophy’s history. O. Khoma remains the editor-in-chief of the journal until today. Since 2008, he’s arranged an international panel of experts to join the editorial board. He also instituted a the mandatory double-blind peer review process for every article. In the year 2015, Sententiae became the first Ukrainian philosophical journal to be indexed by SCOPUS. Additionally, O. Khoma is the editor on the editorial boards for science journals “Filosofska dumka” (Philosophical thought) and “Visnyk of Vinnitsya Technical Institute”.

Born in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, he was awarded an honors degree at his Faculty of Philosophy 1990 at the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko National University and presented his doctoral thesis in the same institution (1993) with the direction by Professor Hanna Horak. Since 1990 , and up to the present the time of writing, he has taught Philosophy in the Vinnytsia National Technical University. He was the habilitation thesis’s defense (1999) within the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Ukraine under the supervision of Professor Oleg Bilyi.

1998 2004, 2009, and 1998 received grants from the CNL to translate and conduct research in France.

In 2003 he received the title of Professor; since 2004 he is chairing the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at Vinnytsia National Technical University. Since 2000 he teaches as a visiting professor at other leading Ukrainian universities, including National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (2000-2005) and Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (since 2006-nowadays). He is the founder and chairman of Pascal Society, affiliated with Ukrainian Philosophical Fund, and director of Renatus (Centre for Studies in History of Philosophy).
