Bischof began his training in the TSG Reutlingen area with Judo. He was a German champion at 18 years old in 1997, in the age group U21. In 2001, he was awarded his title as German champion for the men’s category. After that, he was awarded medals in other international competitions and was crowned in 2005 European champion.
In the Olympics, Ole defeated judokas like Tiago Camilo, the silver medallist from Sydney 2000, and Roman Gontyuk, the silver medallist from Athens 2004. Ole won the -81kg Olympic contest by beating Kim Jae-Bum, a judoka from South Korea. The Olympic games of the 2012 London Olympics Bischof took home the silver medal, only to be knocked out in the semi-final by Kim JaeBum. The announcement of his retirement came in September of 2012.
