In July 2008 Obiwon announced that he’d experienced a spiritual awakening and also announced his transition to the genre of Christian/Gospel. His name as an artist Obiwon was changed to “Obiora Obiwon to allow him to develop a stronger and distinctive brand identity for his company. In 2009, he debuted The Rebirth, his sophomore studio album, as well as his the first album of Christian/Gospel called The Rebirth which became noted for songs like “F.a.t.h.e.r”, “Victorious” and “The Rebirth (Kene Gi)”. The most memorable track on the album was revealed to be the cult romance song as well as the marriage song “Obi Mu O”, which was a song dedicated to his spouse to be. In the same year, Gold Water also won four awards out of five nominations at the 4th Annual Nigerian Gospel Music Awards (NGMA). The NGMA winnings were in the following categories and for the following works: Best Collaboration Song for “Hail My King”, Best Soul/R&B Song for “Good To Me”, Worship Song of the Year for “Pour Your Love” and Album of the Year. Obiwon’s long time producer and friend, Phat-E was also honored with the NGMA Gospel Producer Of The Year award for his work on “Gold Water”.

In 2015, Obiora Obiwon released a triplet of singles “Floodgates (The New Overflow)”, “God Of Wonders” and “Bunibe” to herald his 10th music career anniversary and a commemorative album, currently billed for second quarter 2016 release. The album will be his fourth and has been titled “Floodgates: The Beginning Of The New Overflow”

Obiwon’s debut album Overture came out in. The demands of a new career in music soon caused him to leave his bank job shortly after. Overture was the producer of the now-classic Nigerian hit song “Onyinye”. He was nominated for three awards during the 2007, Hip Hop World Awards, and was awarded the award for the best male vocal performance category. He was also named the Nigerian Voice of the Decade (21st century) at the Nigeria Music Awards.

Obiora Nwokolobia Agu (born September 9, 1977) more popularly known as his stage moniker Obiora Obiwon, is a Nigerian musician, singer as well as songwriter, recording artist musician, music minister, and evangelist.

Graduated from at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 2001, where the course was Agricultural Extension even while building the skills of recording and live performances in Nigeria’s music scene in the eastern region. After moving to Lagos in 2002 to join the National Youth Service Corps, Gee first became an employee of the bank in Lagos. While there, his the first attempt to pursue a recording career professionally brought him together with his colleagues in an HipHop group known as Thorobreds. It was at this time when he decided to adopt the moniker “Obiwon”, a name that a beloved uncle often referred to him when he was younger following a popular sci-fi hero. The group was recognized for their impact by receiving the award for the award for Best Rap group at first edition of Nigeria’s famous music awards event, The HipHop World Awards (now called The Headies).

Obiwon married Nkechi Obioma Ezeife on 22 October 2011. The couple has a daughter Nmesioma, Michelle born on 4 September 2012 and also a son Chimdalu, Michael born on 23 September 2014.
