Following the May 2019 general election, Kiviet became a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. She was named Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure by President Cyril Ramaphosa. She took office on 30 May 2019 and currently serves alongside Minister Patricia de Lille.

Noxolo Kiviet is a South African politician, and the Premier of the Eastern Cape from 2009 to 2014. She is the former speaker of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature (2004–2009; 2014–2019). She is also a member of the African National Congress. In June 2012 Kiviet was rated as the worst performing provincial premier by the South African Public Service Commission.
She completed the Bachelor of Administrative (B.Admin) at the University of Fort Hare, B. Admin Honours at the same institution. In 2010 she was one of the notable graduates at the University of Fort Hare, being awarded the Master in Public Administration.
