Norbert Darabos is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 31, 1964 in Vienna, Austria. Norbert Darabos (born 31 May 1964) is an Austrian politician from Austria. He is currently the head of the Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ASPR). From 2007 until 2013, he was the minister of National Defence under the chancellors Gusenbauer and Faymann. From 2015 until 2016 he was director general for the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO). He is married and has two children.
Following the 2005 Austrian legislative elections during which the SPO received the largest share of vote, Darabos became a member of the team that worked to form a coalition with his party, the Austrian People’s Party (OVP). The following Grand coalition that was elected to office on the 11th of January, 2007 Darabos was appointed the Minister for National Defence. As of December 2, 2008, his responsibilities also included sports.
In 2010 Vienna’s mayor Michael Häupl (SPÖ) suggested it should be decided whether young Austrians should still have to serve in the army. Darabos promised “full support” for Häupl’s idea of abolishing the conscription, that for the 2013 Austrian conscription referendum takes place. On 11 March 2013 Darabos resigned as minister in order to return as Secretary General of his party, responsible for running the upcoming parliament elections.
Darabos was elected secretary general in March of 2003. Darabos was appointed secretary-general of the Social Democratic Party of Austria. In 2004, he led the presidential campaign of the then President of Austria Heinz Fischer, and on June 16, 2004, Darabos became a member in the Austrian parliament (SPO).

Darabos is a native of Vienna. From 1982 until 1988, Darabos was a student of politics and history in the University of Vienna, where Darabos was graduated in the year 1988. In 1987/88, he was commissioned into the alternative civilian service.

On May 19, 1999, Darabos became a member in the parliament of the nation. Between December 2000 and March of 2003 Darabos served as the leader of the Social Democratic Group in the federal parliament of Burgenland.
In 2010, Darabos received the Grand Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria in Gold with Sash (Großes Goldenes Ehrenzeichen am Bande für die Verdienste um die Republik Österreich).
