Nora Jane Struthers (born November 11th in 1983) is an American singer- songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee who is well-known for her critically popular Americana (music) and roots rock. Rolling Stone Country debuted a video of “Let Go” from Struthers Album Wake along with an essay that Stephen L. Betts wrote that “the ever-widening scope of Nora Jane Struthers’ musicality means that placing a neat, easy label on the genre she best represents is virtually impossible.” In a piece for Amy’s site Smart Girls, Alexa Peters stated she believes that “Nora Jane is entirely and unequivocally herself, and wants to encourage you to do the same.” National Public Radio (United States) declared Struthers “quietly brilliant” in article with the headline “Country Music’s Year of the Woman.” Struthers 2013 album Carnival which was recorded with her group The Party Line, spent more than three months in the top 20 on the Americana Radio charts, and reached the top spot at No. 7. Carnival placed at 24th place on 2013’s Americana Airplay Top 100 list. In the review of Carnival the Tampa Bay Times wrote that Struthers’ distinctive style that combines “rich storytelling, repeat-worth melodies and a modern mashup of traditional, bluegrass folk, country and rock influences” makes her stand out from her many folk-inspired contemporary artists.

Struthers released her self-titled debut solo album on the 10th of July in 2010. Nora Jane Struthers, produced by Brent Truitt, featured established musicians such as multi-instrumentalist Tim O’Brien and fiddler Stuart Duncan.

Struthers and The Party Line gave nearly 150 live performances across the U.S. in 2013. Struthers said she achieved a childhood dream by playing in the Saturday Night All Star Jam at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Oak Hill, New York that year.

Struthers had written a collection of songs for a new solo album by 2012 and launched a Kickstarter campaign that raised $22,000 in less than four weeks to help fund it. She formed a touring band called The Party Line and released the 14-track Carnival on April 16, 2013, again produced by Truitt.

Struthers joined Americana acoustic quartet Bearfoot later in the year and the band released their debut American Story album American Story in 2011, featuring six songs that were composed or composed by Struthers. One of the songs, “Tell Me a Story,” was the top-rated film in Country Music Television.

Struthers had dyslexia diagnosed at age four when a reading specialist informed her parents Nora Jane would never go to college. Struthers eventually proved that the specialist was incorrect, and enrolled in English Education and Africana Studies at the New York University’s School of Education. Following her graduation in 2005 Struthers was a teacher in The Williamsburg Charter High School in Brooklyn, New York, until 2008.

Struthers performed together with her father, as Dirt Road Sweetheart and the duo released their debut album I Heard the Bluebirds Sing in May the 11th of May, 2008. In 2008, she gave her position as a teacher and relocated into Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue an active career as a full-time musician. She soon began performing with a group that she named The Bootleggers and was eventually awarded the famous Telluride Bluegrass Festival band contest in June of 2010.
