Noel McCalla (born 4 November 1956 from London, England) is a British rock musician from London, England. He was the vocalist in charge for the rock band Manfred Mann’s Earth Band from 1991 until 2009.

In mid-2006, he began collaborating with the jazz group Dave Lewis 1Up.

McCalla after having performed several sessions in the studio with them starting from 1980, was enthralled with Mann’s Earth Band in 1990, being featured as a guest on their Plains Music album, and later, they toured extensively and also on their album of studio recordings Soft Vengeance and 2006, as well as the live compilation Mann Alive. McCalla was replaced as the singer of the band by Peter Cox, best known for his work as the lead singer for Go West.

At the age of 15, McCalla left school to join the band Black and White Notes. They played and later supported The Shadows. He later joined Moon who associated with Epic Records. After the band broke up however, he continued to be at Epic Records, releasing a solo album. After 1972, McCalla quit his home in Coventry in order to relocate to London.

In 1977, he was employed as a back-up vocalist with Sniff and the Tears. In the meantime the singer was an independent musician and recorded an album for himself “Night Time Emotion” in 1979, produced by Trevor Rabin. He also sang on the album of Mike Rutherford Smallcreep’s Day in 1980, on Morrissey- Mullen’s album in 1985 This must Be the Place. By the year 1981, he made the decision to start his own group that he named Contact. They played a number of gigsand released an album. The band reformed in 1993. name of the band was changed from McCalla to McCalla, and they released “Push and Pull”, which was followed by “Hot From The Smoke” in 1995. In 1986, he performed as a singer for the jazz-rock group Mezzoforte in Iceland, and sang several tracks from”No Limits. “No Limits”.

His fifteen-year-old son Mali Michael-McCalla competed for a place in the fifth series of the UK talent competition X-Factor in 2008, but did not progress to the Live Final stages. Mali auditioned for the 2009 series, but did not get past the ‘bootcamp’ stage.
