His birthplace was Gwelo, Rhodesia (now Gweru, Zimbabwe) in 1979 to a family descendant from the Shangaan people.
Sibanda was the host of his Press Conference that cast the 1 August 2018 murders of the military across the globe and drew the world’s attention, which led to the world acknowledging that Mnangagwa wasn’t a reformer. In the Press Conference, Sibanda faced an array of hostile questions from media outlets including ITV, BBC and SABC however, Sibanda stood his ground and asserted that regardless of the excuses that could be made to justify it, it was wrong to use live ammunition on journalists. Sibanda’s quiet, uncompromising and, some would say, somewhat arrogant, but assertive posture Sibanda confronts the media in an approach that is unique but he is able to declare the facts.
After departing from ZINASU Sibanda spent a year and nine months with the Movement for Democratic Change working in the Office of the President. He was responsible for a range of tasks, including co-coordinating the Broad Alliance and engaging regional ambassadors in the problems of Zimbabwe. Sibanda was then exiled from Zimbabwe in 2004 before returning back to Zimbabwe politics in the year 2018 when he was appointed as the Spokesperson of the President by MDC President Nelson Chamisa.

Sibanda first challenged authority during high school. When he attended College Sibanda was elected to the Student Representative Council, rising to the top of the ladder until he was elected President of the National Union of Students in Polytechnic and Technical Colleges (NUSPOTECH). In December 2000, he was elected as the president of the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU). He constantly confronted the government about how education was privatised as well as the denial of basic rights for the people of Zimbabwe. He fought for change in the democratic system within the country.
The position he held was Steering Committee Youth Representative of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, Board member for Zimbabwe Election Support Network, Board Member of the Zimbabwe Election Support Network, youth committee member of the National Constitutional Assembly amongst other positions in Zimbabwe’s political system. He went across South America to attend the Peoples Global Action summit where he was able to meet autonomous groups like those of the Zapastistas of Mexico amongst others as well as the Brazilian Landless People’s Movement.
Nkululeko Sibanda is the current Spokesperson for Nelson Chamisa, who is the President of Zimbabwe’s Movement for Democratic Change and is thought to have won the July 2018 Presidential elections in the country, before the military stepped in and forced the announcement of Emmerson Mnangagwa as the winner, including the subsequent confirmation by a partisan Supreme Court, sitting as a Constitutional Court.
