He was in various senior operational management positions at Google and was the Vice President of Europe Operations between 2004 until 2007 as President of Europe, Middle East and Africa from 2007 until 2009, and then President, Global Sales Operations and Business Development between 2009 and 2010. He was Senior Vice- President and Chief Executive Officer at Google Inc. (Google) from January 2011 through July 2014.
He left Google in July 2014 resigning from the post of Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer.
From 2001 until 2004, he was Chief Marketing Officer for T-Mobile International. T-Mobile International Division of Deutsche Telekom AG. He was the Chief Executive Officer and the Founder of T-Motion PLC, which merged with T-Mobile International in 2002.
