Nihal Silva is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on January 10, 1954 in Kirulapana, Western, Sri Lanka. Silva is born the 10th of January 1954 at Kirilapone and was raised in Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka as the youngest of his family. The father of his was Dahanayakage Andrew De Silva, who was employed by the Railway Department. Her mother’s name was Wataketiya Rajapaksage Lucyhami. She was an attendant in a hospital. Silva is the mother of three elder sisters: Malini, Shriyawathi and Padmini and three brothers who are elders, Nimal, Siripala. Silva studied in Sri Waishaka Vidyalaya, Wellawatte and Sri Watawala Maha Vidyalaya, Hatton.

Nihal initially worked as a drama director in the production Sathuro directed by Jayasekara Apponsu. He then produced his own play Sabhawaniya Kaakko, in which Australian actor John Musso is also acted in the production. Nihal later created the Rudira Wanija drama and later participated in Kawuruth Enne Nehe along with Ayith Ithin Heta which were produced by pathiraja L. S. Dayananda. A few of his most memorable stage drama roles came through Punthila as well as Ran Salakuna. He was the first actor to play Sajan Nallathambi as part of the production Neinage Suduwa written by Daya Wayaman in the year 1985. The production Sajan Nallathambi was among the very first Sri Lankan plays to be an economic success. It became extremely popular and was even performed throughout the Middle East to Sinhala audiences with a record-breaking 366 performances. Following its release it was followed by a string of comedies similar to Ralla, Commando Diyasena, and Vadamaarachi made appearances on Sri Lankan theaters inspired by its popularity.

Nihal first appeared on stage on the stage in the year 1975 in the Vesak drama Desha Drohiya written by Asoka Senarath Mudali in The Kirulapone Pradeshiya Sabha Youth Union. Asoka Senarath Mudalige was offered the opportunity to play in his debut on stage in public. He was his father in the play of acquaintances Raja as well as Jinadasa in the play Mehve Rate. He was at the police station when the Premadasa Hettigoda created the production called Bahukolam Sohon Bere. Later, he was in stage plays such as Amal Biso Ambalamaka Nade as well as Le Kandulu.

Dahanayakage Nihal Ranjith Silvia (Sinhala:nihaal silvaa) (10 January 1954 – 3 December 1989) known by the name of Nihal Silva, was a Sri Lankan comedian and actor. He gained fame for his character Sajan Nallathambi in the show named after him. The character was stereotyped Tamil Hindu with a bald head, small moustache police attire and Vibhuti with three lines of black ash across his forehead.

His first cinema appearance was through the 1974 film Hadawath Naththo with an uncredited part in a dance troupe. Nihal was granted the opportunity to play in a film as one of the characters in the movie Jodu Walalu which was directed by S. Dayananda. He plays the part as a Tamil Garden Watcher. Nihal played the character “Maddume” in the film Kadira that has led him to allow him to be part in the movie Rosy directed by Yasapalitha Nanayakkara. In the following years, he was a part of many films that were commercially successful, such as Sathweni Dawasa Ahimi Dadayama Kawuluwa as well as Kiri Madu Wal.

Silva was shot to death by Sri Lanka Army soldiers as he ignored warnings and ran a checkpoint on December 3, 1989 in Dehiwela; he possibly did not understand the situation due to inebriation.
