In the final stretch year 2006 Scheuneman’s agreement with Rabobank ended and he joined his Unibet.com team. The team was barred from all races in 2007, which meant that Scheuneman didn’t race frequently. After this season, Scheuneman made the decision to quit professional racing.
As of 2005 Scheuneman was a participant in 2005’s Vuelta a Espana, his only grand tour thus far. In a fall that caused injury to Roberto Heras, Scheuneman broke his finger and was forced to stop the race.

Scheuneman, when Scheuneman when he was still junior, he won two bronze and silver award in junior races at the 2001 UCI Road World Championships. In 2003, at the UCI Road World Championships, Scheuneman competed in the U23 age group and placed third in the time trials.
Scheuneman was transferred in 2004 to the Bodysol team to become a professional. The Bodysol team then joined the Relax team and was one lever better and did not work for Scheuneman. He had an awful year. In the final stages of the year Scheuneman was back with the Rabobank team in the form of junior.
