Nie is born the 13th of Oct 1964, in Yangdang town in Zaoyang, Hubei Province. After graduating from high school, Nie was drafted into the People’s Liberation Army Air Force and was an air force fighter pilot. He completed his training at the PLAAF’s No. 7 Flying School. He was able to graduate in 1987.

Nie was in orbit, together and Fei Junlong (commander) as the flight engineers of Shenzhou 6. Shenzhou 6 flight on 12 October 2005. The mission lasted for just five days.

He was in 1998 when he was chosen to be part of the Chinese space flight program. He was one of three hopefuls that were in the final group of people to prepare in preparation for Shenzhou 5 flight, China’s first spaceflight that was manned. Yang Liwei was picked for the mission, while Zhai Zhigang being ranked second over Nie Haisheng.

Nie Haisheng (simplified Chinese: Nie Hai Sheng Traditional Chinese: Nie Hai Sheng Pinyin: Nie Haisheng ; born 13 October 1964) is a Chinese military pilot and CNSA astronaut.

On June 12, 1989, when he flew at 13,000 feet (4000 meters) the plane experienced an explosion. He lost the engine. The plane began spinning toward the ground and the cabin started to get hot. In an effort to get control back He waited until the plane was between 1300 and 1300 feet (400 to 500 meters) before deciding to let it go. Because of his approach to the situation, he was rewarded with a third-class award.

He was selected to be the commander of the backup crew for the Shenzhou 9 mission. In 2013, Nie was selected to command the Shenzhou 10 second manned space mission to the first Chinese space station Tiangong 1. He became the first officer hold general rank at the time of their launch in the Chinese program with the Shenzhou 10 mission.
