Nicola Minichiello (born Nicola Gautier on the 21st of March, 1978) is a former British Bobsledder who raced between 2001 until the year 2011. She was awarded two medals in the two-woman competition during the FIBT World Championships, winning an award of silver in 2005, and creating history by winning the gold medal in 2009, partnering with Gillian Cooke, to become the first British female bobsleigh racer to take home a gold medal at the World Championships.

As of August, 2012, she was appointed director of the performance department for the Dutch Olympic Bobsleigh team. This made her the first woman in the history of the performance of a Winter Olympic sports organisation. In this capacity, she led Esme Kamphuis as well as Judith Vis to fourth place in the two-woman race during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. In September 2014, she was appointed the new FIBT coordinator for North American races, with the responsibility of skeleton and bobsleigh races in the North American Cup and Intercontinental Cup in Canada as well as Canada and the United States.

Nicola was helped by the Bromley Technologies “Formula Ice 2010” project along with skeleton bobsleigh competitors Shelley Rudman and Kristan Bromley.

Participating for the three Winter Olympics, Minichiello earned her best result of ninth place in the two-woman competition at Turin in 2006. This was also her best ever Olympic result for the GB women’s Bobsleigh team.

Her best ever for the Heptathlon was 5784 points which she racked up during her time in Austria at the end of 2001. In athletics, Nicola was married to Toni Minichiello, coach of World and Olympic the heptathlon winner Jessica Ennis. Nicola played a part in the coaching of Ennis throughout Ennis beginning her career in athletics. In addition to bobsledding, Nicola was part-time P.E. instructor and was also an athlete instructor to the Youth Sport trust. The news was made public on 10 August 2010 , that Minichiello will not be able to attend her 2010-11 Bobsleigh World Cup, including the FIBT World Championships in 2011 because of a knee injury. In April 2011, Minichiello announced her retirement from driving and was appointed as head development coach for the governing body of the sport, The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (French: Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing).
