She was married to Jonathan Mendelsohn, a British lobbyist and Labour political organiser in 1994. He was made a life peer in the Baron Mendelsohn of Finchley of Barnet, the London Borough of Barnet in 2013. Her husband and she are Jewish and actively participate in their synagogue as well as the Jewish community. In November of 2015, they were the new president couple of the Norwood Anglo-Jewish charity for family services. They live at Finchley along with their 3 sons and a daughter.
